Home Activities

I don’t have siblings so I usually played with my cousins in our big yard. There were also a lot of games and cool projects we made up together. We all lived in the same yard but in different houses. While we weren’t playing together, I’d be probably walking around in the yard, eating biscuits and thinking about new game ideas or thinking about stuff to improve King’s Story. I’d often be somewhere mixing random chemicals for making potions or trying to build new Battleland cards and Drive Panels too.

Introduction

My cousins and I regularly rode our bicycles on the street in front of our house. It was just a small street with houses on either sides and it was closed at one of its 2 ends. We didn’t really come across cars that often. Sometimes we’d also imagine monsters and kill them in our yard. We were also big fans of LEGOs and of modelling clay.

I remember making a robot called “Robocup”. He’s still here by the way. I made him in such a way that part of it could be removed so that he got a nightcap at night for example (as I was wearing one and still do). Additionally , part of him could be adjusted so that he became a car, a boat, a special helicopter or even a shop. Yes, a shop, with mostly snacks and one part of him that could produce drinks. Then we’d use another part of him as the recipient for that drink we just took from him.

Bicycle Tracks

I usually did races with 2 of my cousins along that street. Most of the time I was ranked second. To spice things up, we made up tracks of several distances and difficulties. There was a neighbour who we didn’t (and still don’t) like who lived a bit before the closed end of that street. We were told not to ride bicycles there. Also, there were dogs who’d bark a lot near the end of the street should anyone come by. Guess what we did yet? This was the longest and most dangerous track for our races. It was the “Extra-Boss Difficulty”. Half of the street was steeper than the other half too (see the picture). So, some of the races of “Medium Difficulty” started where the street became steeper. Most of the races of “Easy Difficulty” were those with the shortest track length for a lap. It doesn’t stop with these 6-7 different tracks we had though. Each of these races had their own unique starting line and another version of them; their “Reverse Track”. Then, me and my cousins would agree on the number of laps and the one whose turn it was would start a 3 second countdown. There was also a plan about the starting lines and the paths of these tracks that was glued on a wall but I unfortunately can’t find it now. I also remember that there was a name that we gave to these races based on our initials and that kids from other lanes came to race us on their bicycles. We had a special long one-lap track too which was mostly used for training. It made a circle of our locality from and to our house. We also went to a nearby river on our bicycles from time to time. It was fun to sit down and talk or catch tadpoles in plastic bottles. Now that river is just polluted and there’s nothing to enjoy about going there.

Outdoor Game - Kill Monsters

Sometimes I was damn bored when I wasn’t playing with my cousins. So, regularly I walked around in my rocky yard trying to spot cool stuff laying around like nails. I had a little secret base under the outdoor stairs where I would store things I find. One day I found some long metal rods which probably came from sliding doors of furnitures. These rods would months later be used by me and by my 2 other cousins as lances for the knights we were on our much loved horses (bicycles) but that is a completely different story.

So, days after finding these rods, I invited 2 of my cousins to play with me in our yard. At first we didn’t really have any particular use for these rods. Then we thought of a game and progressively, it became better. Basically, the rods were our “swords”. The game had levels and we actually completed a level when we felt it was complete. We had to kill aliens who were pretty much the plants in our yard. We were slashing through the plants in each level, imagining that the poor plants were really aliens and got back to our base after each level which was found under the stairs again. Then there were levels where we had to kill the alien bosses. Guess what plants represented them? Either the big and solid ones or the plants who were the most scarce in our yard. Yeah, I know, we were evil. We played this game for some days and if I’m not wrong, I think in one day we had completed 80 levels or more.

Other Games

When we rode bicycles and weren’t racing, we usally made up some other games too. One of them was initially a game involving a shop. Leaves from a specific plant were used as the currency. There’s a little shrine in our yard near the small street which was used as the shop. One of us, usually me, would climb up the shrine, poke his head out to the street and the ones on bicycles would stop by, pay in leaves to get what he wants (fictionally). The ones on the bicycles could also enter the yard to refuel their vehicles or do a servicing. Our yard was like a parking too and my house, a hotel. Also, if one of us committed a crime, usually the one managing the shop would be the cop and chase him on his bicycle. Poor guy had to then pay a fine if he was caught. We weren’t afraid of slaming bicycles against each other anyway. I remember that whenever we fell down or got hurt in some way, we’d cut some Aloe Vera leaves and place them where we got hurt. We really felt better afterwards and I guess the Aloe Vera leaves did a pretty good job.

Sometimes I’d go to the house of my cousins (the ones who I raced against on bicycle). Often, we’d play with LEGO blocks or modelling clay. They had big sets of LEGO but we rarely built what was expected with these blocks. Instead, we put all the pieces down and each one of us took the piece he desired or needed. We each then built stuff as per our imagination. We regularly built small spaceships from a LEGO set intended to build a huge helicopter. Then, we’d race our spaceships, clash them against each other to see whose spaceship survived in the end.

One very good souvenir of what we did with modelling clay was a restaurant. I remember that we had tiny little plastic tools to cut and model our modelling clay properly. Then we each had a really big menu list where there were the names of the food stuffs we made. I remember having a wide variety of ice creams, fries and pizzas in mine. Some of them are featured in the Kishan’s Shop section. I also once took a big piece of thin cardboard and put some modelling clay on it to represent roads and grasses. We then drove tiny small cars on that to go to the restaurant and stuff.

Another game we played often at their place involved little green plastic soldiers and big tanks. Each of us would put up an army of little green/brown men, and include road signs and warfare vehicles. I don’t remember much about how we attacked but it sure was a lot of fun and we played for hours. The one whose army wasn’t completely obliterated at the end was the winner.

Drive Panels, Battleland Cards, Kinesis Devices and most of my other childhood inventions had been made up at home. I was hugely inspired by cartoons that I watched at that time such as Yu-Gi-Oh and Dinofrost, Nintendo DS games I played such as “Bakugan - Battle Brawlers” and some PC games. These cartoons contributed mostly to the Battleland cards and one PC game I had played, which I unfortunately don’t recall the name had a boss with magical powers to beat at the end. I would then draw that boss really badly on paper and it would later serve as the portray of King.

King is the character which I referred to when I was talking to myself. The reason why he’s named like this is because my parents always told me that “I was a King” and since then, I liked that name. I made up several characters that contributed to the story of King along with making several improvements in the story while walking around in our yard too. A lot of the characters were based on individuals in my life or toys I had. For example, there was a game where we could win random stuff after inserting a coin. I got 2 little female aliens once which later became Ura and Nus in the story of King. When I lost one of them (Ura), it marked her death in the story. After reading the primary school page, you must already know how the likes of Nepharius/Antonio and the wife of King came in the story. Actually, the story of King was originally created from the end because that’s when there was actually a link between him and me. It’s only months after regularly thinking of his story that I could make up the link between him, Ura and everything else.

I had 4 cousins at that time. We made up a team for ourselves as we supposedly had magical powers. We didn’t really have an aim for that team though. It was named “Diables Noirs”. Later we made up other teams namely “Power Kids” and “Diables Bleu”. I also made up a team which basically consisted of me and a now distant friend of mine; “Diables Rouge”. The last that was made was “Sym-Bionic” which regrouped all the other teams but “Diables Noirs” was by far the most famous among us. I also had a big diary since I was kid and most of everything that I’m talking about is well documented there.

The eldest one of my 4 cousins suddenly didn’t want to be part of the things that we were making up shortly after “Diables Noirs” was created. That’s why King has only 3 brothers. These 3 cousins were all younger than me and in ascending order of age, they were named Ath, Junior and Dush, the brothers of King. “Ath” was really just the characters rearranged from the word “Hat” as my youngest cousin couldn’t find a name by himself and I liked wearing hats. “Junior” was a name chosen by my cousin. He liked it so… And finally, “Dush” was two third of the real name of that cousin. Each of us had the powers of an element and was more skilled in that. Mine was Fire, Junior’s was Water, Dush’s was Air/Wind and Ath’s was Earth. With time, we unlocked new skills and powers but after the last big battle of King, all of us eventually got our hands on all the powers and elements that existed. When you’ll read about potions, you’ll see how these elements shaped the making of these potions and how the potions are linked to the story of King.

Then we had the Oshi 10. As I said, I was really inspired by cartoons. Oshi 10 was the equivalent of Ben 10’s watch. Like his watch, the Oshi 10 had 10 monsters. Some of the monsters were made up while I was talking to my cousins on the way back home after school as I mentioned in the previous section. The first one was how I portrayed King after trying to draw the final boss of a game. There were 5 other monsters that looked similar to the first one but weren’t fundamentally the same type of being. You’ll learn more about the Oshi 10 in the Monsters’ Book section. Also, I loved cartoons so much that I wanted to meet all of the individuals in cartoons in real life. So, I made up a fictional machine that aimed to reproduce all of these characters on King’s Planet and I could meet them whenever I closed my eyes and travelled to his planet.

Now on to some more little details. Firstly, there are some symbols that I want to talk about (see the fourth picture above). The first one was the original logo of “Diables Noirs” since we were 4 members. The second one became its logo some while after. The last one represents USSP (Universe Super Secret Planet), the planet of King. This logo changed quite a bit later, as you’ll see in the Monsters’ Book section. Then, let’s talk about LOCK and the Scorpion Triangle. Once, I thought of the 3 animals/beings that I prefered in 3 categories; air, water and earth. For air, it was the dragon, water, the cobra (I thought snakes could live in water) and earth, the scorpion. These 3 animals/beings represented my cousins as they were the rulers of these realms. That made up a triangle and I was at the center of it because King was the most powerful of all. That’s basically what the Scorpion Triangle represents. The reason why it’s called the ‘Scorpion’ Triangle is because scorpions were my favourite animals. You’ll see how this triangle links to the potions in the next section. As for LOCK, it stands for “Land Of Creation King” and I don’t really know why it was called like this to be honest. It is a drawing which represents the most powerful beings and powers of the universe. Junior was on it because he was the cousin that was the most interested in the story of King and what I was making up. I also created King’s language. You can use the seventh picture for converting letters in words to alphabets in the language of King and beside that, there will be the spelling. Me and my cousins told bad words to kids who would annoy us at primary school in this language. Lastly, there are 7 Chaos and Sol emeralds. The names come right out of the universe of Sonic but without the same context. Chaos emeralds boost up considerably an individual’s attacking powers and Sol emeralds, his/her defensive powers. These are what fusioned with King during his last fight when leaders of other planets lended him their powers. When they fusion, they become similar to the drawings of the seventh picture. And it’s finally a wrap on that page!
